You say, “adrock, you rock so well”

Hello world, life has been a busy trek.     But wouldn’t you know, a wee price drop and we’re back in the game.      Just replaced the washing machine and a toilet.     Upgrading the bathroom mirror to a cabinet.    And the back exterior door, well, let’s just say JR slammed it a bit too hard…yes, I’m in the market for a new back door.    We also had the entire back lower garden cut down which was a huge relief.     The perennials come down in the next few weeks.

That aside, here a few new pics to give you an idea as to what the exterior of the house looks like when it’s not standing rigid for pictures.   Here the kids play.    But it allows you to see beyond the front porch, see the street, some of the neighbours homes from our front lawn perspective.

Sad but true..we’re selling

Hi again, I know, I’m a blog procrastinator but I mean well.    I’m not what you’d call a summertime lover…humidity, heat, sweat (thank goodness we have central air)- I can’t exercise outdoors without fear of collapse, potential sunburn..ouch.   Not for me.  Uh huh.

This entry will be short and sweet.    First off, why must Taio Cruz be on MuchMusic every time I turn it on.   Uh, annoying.    Frommage video to boot.     Secondly, Arcade Fire and the infamous Win Butler…totally inspiring me this week, this month.     Third, I can feel sweater weather in the air today which is awesome.  Humidity be gone, comfortable everything come in.    Who doesn’t love jeans, boots and a sweater?      Bikinis are annoying, bras in the heat, um, suck, and sand everwhere is simply unnecessary.     Sweaters are where it’s at.

Speaking of sweaters, our house is for sale.    Lame, I know it.     But too many contributing factors, commuting, being without family, it’s all too much.      Today’s entry is a Warren pic fav meaning I took a pic of Warren and our house.  It’s a nice summer sun picture.     If you’re interested then come by and see the place…it’s home business meets fun family type of place.

How to host a garden wedding

It’s taken me awhile but as promised here are the first round of garden wedding photographs from the garden party wedding we hosted last summer.      This round of photogs are from the day portion of the day.     Later this week I’ll post party pics to see the tent and property at night.    It was a most wonderful party.

Off to the showers for me….I transplanted hostas today while tending to a 3yr old and an 18month old in the front yard.   Surprisingly the kids stay put on the lawn as long as they have rocks and a garden hose.   Hmpf.

Hello Potential Buyer,

Last September we hosted the most charming garden wedding the town of Colborne ever did see.       100 guests,     3 tents, Brazilian drummers, barefooted vows, bombfire by moonlight.     It was perfect.     And, it was family.   

The next series of posts will be pictures from the event – landscaping, tent set up, the party.

Today we head to the beach for sandcastles and fun.

Babies bedtime so make it quick

Greetings Reader,

Today it poured buckets in Northumberland County which I rather enjoyed….just not the driving on the 401 part.   Torrential downpour, babies in the car, 401…very unappealing.

Today I shot a family friendly event at Burnham Family Fruit Market in Cobourg – Strawberry Days Festival.                Mr Strawberry was on had to greet visitors, they offered pony rides (in the rain), a sand table for all things digging, live music – it was a quaint afternoon.    I believe the charity bbq was in support of the Canadian Cancer Society local chapter.     I shot the event for Snap NorthumberlandWest.

As I said, this has to be quick…after the Strawberry Festival we went to the smaller section of Cobourg Beach and the kids had oodles of fun running around in the side parking lot mud puddles.   Puddles = dirt.   Have I mentioned how awesome Cobourg Beach is?    More on that another time.     In the meantime check out this link for Cobourg Beach.       Oh, another great thing about Colborne, it’s a 15min drive to Cobourg at  half the price for real estate.    Sweet.

Another rainy day

I LOVE rainy days in the summer.    I could spend all day out in the rain – puddles, the refreshing feeling of rain sprinkling on your face, the smell.  So good.     I love rainy summers but I’m not sure I would feel the same if I lived in England.   

Summer rainy days remind me of the fall and the fall is so stunning in Northumberland County…it’s definitely worth the drive.   So as we’re blanketed with yet another lovely rain, a storm lingering in the clouds, I prepare for my day by reflecting fondly of the stunning fall walks JR and I used to take –  long, arduous walks but the artistry of my surroundings made the long walks seem like 5mins rather than hours of trekking, baby sleeping, mom inhaling the beauty of the outdoors.     I wish I could have bottled those moments.

I love rainy days…

Right around the corner from our house there is a little stream.  Its shallow water makes it a great place for the children to throw rocks and get muddy.    Some days, exceptionally hot days, we hide out under the trees and eat p.b. sammiches and dip our toes into the water … it’s all about creating memories.    Who knew how much kids love to throw rocks in the water…hours of free fun.

Here’s a few shots of the area we like to picnic at.     It’s  not really a picnic place but I make it up as I go along.   The point is, the kids dig it so I dig it too.     Okay, I have a resume to draft and I’m out of coffee…eek!

Rutherford’s Farm & Fruit Market

Greetings Reader -

May through to November we have the luxury of shopping for fruits, vegetables and flowers at Rutherford’s farm & fruit market.    The farm is a 5min walk from our house and the road we travel on runs directly behind the farm fields.     Not only do they grow their own fruits & vegetables but last summer they extended their bakery products to include fresh bread as well as pies, tarts, cookies.     You can also pick up ice cream, local maple syrup, local produce and their greenhouse offers flowers and plants for most of the season… they do make room for pumpkins come October.     And what makes Rutherford’s just about the coolest fruit market for kids….3 llamas, 2 golden retrievers, a few cats and some chickens.      During strawberry & fresh peas season we visit daily.  JR does chores to ensure a loonie for a bunch of carrots to feed to his furry friends.     Who doesn’t love farm freshness!
